Co-owners/chefs Dino and Heidi Moon opened Lavanda to rave reviews in October of 2001. Classically trained in the culinary and hospitality arts in Sarajevo, site of the 1984 Winter Olympic games, they aim to provide casual yet elegant dining with Mediterranean influenced dishes. Dino's first restaurant, also in 1984, was located near Dubrovnik, Croatia.

Lavanda is located somewhat off the beaten path in that it is literally in the middle of the city block of art galleries and shops known as the Towles Court Arts District.
